The 2026 General Elections are coming up, and it's time to make YOUR plan to vote! There are three ways to vote: absentee voting, early in-person voting, and in-person election day voting.
1. Absentee Voting (No Excuse) is available Friday, October 2 to Monday, November 2, 2026. See the Washington Town Clerk's webpage and the CT Secretary of State for information on absentee voting.
2. Early In-Person Voting is October 19 - November 1, 2026 from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., except 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 27 and Thursday, October 29. Learn more from the CT Secretary of State and the Washington Town Clerk.
3. Election Day In-Person Voting is November 3 from 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Bryan Memorial Town Hall, 2 Bryan Plaza, Washington Depot, CT 06794. Votes can be cast for: Governor and Lieutenant Governor, U.S. Senator, Representative in Congress, State Senator, State Representative, Secretary of the State, Treasurer, Comptroller, Attorney General, Judge of Probate, and Registrar of Voters.
IMPORTANT REGISTRATION DATE for the General Election: Friday, October 16, 2026 is the last day to register in person and by mail. The Registrar of Voters will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. for in-person registration. All mail-in voter registration applications must be received or postmarked by this date to be accepted. The Online Voter Registration System will also close on this date at 11:59 p.m. If you miss the deadline to register in advance of election day, same-day voter registration is available on November 3, 2026 at Town Hall 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
If you register by mail, you are not a registered voter until your application is approved by the Registrar of Voters. The Registrar of Voters is required to provide to you notice of acceptance or rejection of your application according the table below. If you do not receive notice from the Registrar of Voters within the applicable timeframe, you should contact the Registrar of Voters and/or the CT Secretary of State.
